ZBrush

This course is a professional training in ZBrush, which is a digital sculpting tool that combines 3D/2.5D modeling, texturing and painting. It uses a proprietary “pixol” technology which stores lighting, colour, material, orientation and depth information for the points making up all objects on the screen. The main difference between ZBrush and more traditional modeling softwares is that it is more like traditional sculpting.

This short course in ZBrush covers essential commands and techniques :

  • Interface : Trays and palettes, title bar, etc.
  • Basic Digital Sculpting : Digital clay, using standard, smooth, and move brushes, subdivide your mesh, sculpt with symmetry, sculpt a character’s head, masking, polygroups, transpose.
  • SubTools, ZSpheres, and ZSketching : Append subtools, sculpt subtools, create teeth, zspheres, zsketching.
  • ShadowBox and Clip Brushes : Shadowbox basics, creating in shadowbox, match maker brush, clip brushes.
  • Remesh and Projection : Remesh a surface, projection, remesh the project details, mannequins.
  • Advanced Brush Techniques : Brush customization, design a brush, alpha textures, brush effects, hard surface detail brushes, stencils.
  • Polypainting and SpotLight : Polypainting, polypainting techniques, image editing with spotlight, spotlight projection.
  • Rendering, Lighting, and Materials : Rendering basics, BPR, best mode, export, lights, materials, shader mixer, subsurface scattering effects, fiber material.
  • Morph Targets, Layers & Timeline : Morph targets, 3D layers, polypaint layers, timeline.
